Clarios

Overview

Clarios is one of the top manufacturers of car batteries on the planet. They own several other companies world-wide including Optima Batteries, Auto Batteries, and Varta Automotive. They also have major partnerships with Energizer and Walmart.

Clarios was in need of a new website to help provide better user experience, drive more sales, and provide additional functionality.

I was able to work closely with their design and dev team to create a website that filled their needs.

Web Design

Clarios needed a website that was designed to guide leads to valuable actions. I was able to work closely with their design team and guide implementation of UX design standards while fitting inside the Clarios brand.

The main goal was to keep the site simple, engaging, clear, and easy to navigate.

Copy

I helped create copy for all headers, CTAs, and alt texts. The goal was to make copy that made the offer clear, encouraged users to take action, and be SEO optimized.

Additionally, I was used to work alongside the marketing team to create meta descriptions that look good to both search engines and users.

Technical SEO

To keep the website running smoothly, I had to work with the dev team to make sure all technical SEO practices were met.

Site Security

During development, there were some issues that came up with the SSL certification and security headers. By partnering with a security team we were able to get everything fixed with little issues.

Cookie Management

Because Clarios is a global company, we needed to make sure it was compliant with all compliance regulations. I helped manage the development of the cookie management implementation.

GA4 Tracking

While we got everything designed, developed, and deployed, we still needed to collect data and find out where we can improve.

I set up all the Google Analytics 4 tracking, created funnels, build explorations, labeled conversions, and identified key actions to track. Using this data, we have been able to make ongoing optimizations and identify failures in the site.

Google Search Console

I set up the Google Search Console account so we can get an idea of what keywords we are currently ranking for, what keywords we could improve on, and what keywords are leading to sales.

We linked this to the GA4 account to get a deeper look into user behavior on the site.

Reports

All the technical stuff is great, but business and leadership needs to know what actions need to be taken to move the company in the right direction.

That is why I put together reports that show what actions are driving the most results, see performance over time, and get a better understanding on user behavior on the site.

Training

While I was able to do a lot for Clarios in a short amount of time, they needed to be able to do this ongoing. To make sure they were set up for the long run, I created and shared documents on best practices, step-by-step guides, and standards on all things related to SEO, GA4 tracking, reports, copy creation, A/B testing, and site security.

I also had several hours of 1-on-1 training with leadership, management, and other stakeholders to make sure they knew what to do going forward.
